STILL MAKING HISTORY

MADAM CHAIR

ATLANTA CITIZEN REVIEW BOARD

Full City Council Confirmation Day at City Hall October 3, 2016    Tracee has honestly shared that her appearances before several Council Committee meeting leading up to the Full City Council Confirmation Hearing on October 3, 2016 was a long and in most cases tiresome experience. She said that It was life-affirming having the community show up for support, with strengthened during her moments of fatigue during the weeks long process.

She’s also expressed how reaffirming that it was having the Mayor's Administration and Legal Council setting the record straight during those meetings and even condemning those whom were undoubtedly against her appointment.

Moving forward from the madness, being Confirmed later that afternoon by the Full Atlanta City Council, 12 YEAS to 0 NAYS was an experience she will no sooner forget.

She thanked Council member Alex Wan and during the time, Council member Keisha Lance Bottoms for going beyond to ensure that the delay and sabotage tactics finally came to a conclusion.

She’s  grateful that the appointment process had been completed and once sworn-in on Tuesday October 11, 2016, the real work began.

Quite recently during her final term, Tracee has shared a conversation with one of the prior Board Members whom was also the Board Chair when Tracee first joined.

The former Chair admitted that she was also one of the detractors that were against someone that wasn’t living in the City being appointed to the Board, nor did they like the way that former Mayor Reed handled the nomination process.

However, the former Chair has expressed to Tracee that she was proven wrong by Tracee’s hard work and dedication to the board.

Talking about coming full circle with the former board Chair also encouraging Tracee to seek leadership roles on the ACRB, which came to fruition after Tracee was first elected Secretary, Vice-Chair and then Board Chairwoman.
