The Obama Administration wanted community leaders and stakeholders, whom were all of Trans experience to supply them with feedback on a new training module that included instructions on how to properly identify and respond to Hate Crimes, in addition to improving mutual respect and understanding between Trans, Gender Non-Conforming and Non-Binary people, and Federal Law Enforcement.
Tracee has expressed hope during those planning meetings with the United States Department of Justice that she was happy that the Federal Government's concerned about the violence and systemic discrimination that we face with every breath we take, and their involvement will make yet one more step progressively forward towards obtaining justice and human rights protections for all community members, locally and federally, regardless of Gender identity or orientation.
During their first training session, Tracee thanked the Department of Justice's Community Relations Services for their compassion and fair-mindedness, which included Senior Conciliation Specialist Walter Atkinson, Conciliation Specialist Suzanne Buchanan, Conciliation Specialist Mildred Duprey- de Robles and Regional Director Thomas Battles.
Just a little quick side-note, Conciliation Specialist Mildred Duprey - de Robles was later very instrumental in a whole other discrimination case that we'd had against MARTA after two Trans sisters of Color were brutally attacked while riding MARTA.
Mildred's guidance with scheduling meetings with MARTA'S highest ranking Executive Director, so that he'd personally hear and address our concerns about being safe while taking public transportation here in Atlanta.
