BEYOND PINK AND BLUE

WHAT PANDEMIC

FAITH AND SPIRITUALITY

A Global Online WebConference October 15 – 18, 2020 Atlanta, Georgia Atlanta is the host of an upcoming global online web-conference for transgender people, their families and allies on October 15 – 18, 2020.

The Applied Wisdom Institute of the University of Redlands is organizing a transgender faith and spirituality conference with local community leaders, organizations and educational institutions in Atlanta, Georgia.

This conference is being supported by a generous grant from the E. Rhodes and Leona B. Carpenter Foundation of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The purpose of this conference is to provide a safe and affirming space for transgender, gender nonconforming and non binary persons and their families and to serve as movement building for the transgender community in Atlanta, Georgia.

In recent time, the human dignity and equal rights of transgender people have been under threat with the military ban, rescinding of medical protections, bathroom restriction bills and discrimination in the workplace.

So, this conference is both timely and essential in providing support and empowerment for the transgender community.

Michael J. Adee, Ph.D., Director of the Global Faith and Justice Project within the Applied Wisdom Institute at the University of Redlands is serving as the coordinator of the grant and a resource staff person to the conference planning team.

Before the coronavirus pandemic, this conference was scheduled to be held in person for the community at the historic Central Presbyterian Church in Atlanta across from the State Capitol.

For the safety and health of the community, the planning team has chosen to offer this as an online Web-Conference accessible to everyone in Atlanta, across the United States and around the world.

We so hope you will add your voice to this global transgender faith and spirituality conference in Atlanta with a recorded message of greeting that can be shared during the conference.
