During her acceptance of such a prestigious honor, Tracee thanked organizers, not to mention all around beautiful couple Gee and Juan Smalls for choosing her to be the first GENTLEWOMAN OF THE YEAR award recipient.
She also thanked Gee and Juan Smalls both for bringing Trans, Gender Non-Conforming and Non-Binary people to the table, recognizing and acknowledging the state of emergency that our community is currently experiencing.
It was an extreme honor for Tracee to have met some amazing people that she’d admired such as the beautiful Amiyah Scott, Sharon Lettman-Hicks, the fabulous Bev Smith, Miss Lawrence, Jussie Smollett, whom were also award recipients that magical evening.
In addition to her award on that stellar night, another memorable highlight was Tracee being seated next to and later receiving flowers from honoree Tarell McCraney.
Tracee later exuberantly expressed words of gratitude for the opportunity to have met someone whose writings have inspired her to be more creative in her writing endeavors stating,” Ya'll I've received flowers from Academy Award Winner and Co-Writer of MoonlIght!”
Tracee concluded her remarks about equity, fairness, and black people not kicking their children out in the streets to the wolves and predators by dedicating her GENTLEWOMAN OF THE YEAR AWARD to her spouse and family for supporting, encouraging, loving her unconditionally and her Mother Bear for never kicking her out of their family home.
