During her exclusive interview with CBS46 Reporter Sally Sears during the chaotic time when the #45 Administration was in office during the Black Live Matter Movement, Tracee shared that her head was bowed in gratitude for the opportunity to have been able to also express her frustrations about the brutality, injustices and systemic discrimination that Trans and black people have faced on a daily basis.
It was a trying time during the Social Justice police reform movement when black people were being murdered by police officers on the regular, which actually started way before the Pandemic exacerbated the state of emergency.
She felt it unfortunate that her community hasn’t really shown up for Black Trans people, whom according to the Southern Poverty Law Center’s 2017 Report on violence against Trans people,” Trans people, specifically Black Trans women have been murdered at a rate of almost one per week, beginning the first two months of 2017.
Unfortunately, those numbers still continue climbing at alarming rates. It’s also Tracee’s opinion that the previous White House occupant refused to take responsibility for their ineptness in response to the Pandemic, contributing to millions of Americans whom have died from Co-Vid during their Administration.
Neither did they assume responsibility for the increased violence against Trans and Gender Non-Conforming, due to their dangerous Rhetoric and personal biases.
In addition to this Administration has banning Trans people from the military, they’d encouraged doctors to not treat us when we’re ill and continuously attempted to deny our community access to restrooms that correspond with our gender identity, so that we may Pee in peace.
Tracee discussed with Sally how strongly she believe that it’s imperative for us all to get registered and vote in all elections, local and national, because it’s going to take legislative policies to reverse the discrimination, violence and inequities that Trans people experience walking outside of their homes.
Tracee further emphasized during the interview that it remains true and made clear that our power lies within our votes, or they wouldn’t be so desperately disenfranchising us by limiting access to expressing our birthright at the polls.
At the time, Election 2020 was literally a matter of life and death, and currently in 20220, nothings changed about how important for us all to get involved, one way or another. Vote, Vote, Vote, because our lives depend upon it.
